In what will come as great news to people from Garo Hills, Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma stated that funds for the double-laning of the road from Damra in Assam to Bajengdoba in NGH was already with the NEC and work was due to begin next year.
The news of the project so to be underway comes after a meeting between the CM and a delegation of youth leaders from North Garo Hills on Friday at Tura.
The CM stated that construction would begin by early next year as the detailed project report (DPR) for the same is already under process by the state PWD department. He had initiated the project as an MP for Tura.
The delegation, during the meeting had submitted a memorandum seeking improvement of road communication as well as healthcare.
The delegation also mentioned about the need for a double lane of the Bajengdoba to Borjora road, upgradation of Rangagora-Bolbola road, Mendi to Krishnai via Jira road, Resubelpara to Krishnai via Khardang road, Adokgre to Dupdhara road and Dekachang to Dingok via Rongrong PWD road.
Further they also sought the early completion of the Resubelpara Civil Hospital along with the upgradation of the Mendipathar and Bajengdoba Primary Health Centres (PHC) to Community Health Centres (CHC), repairing of the health sub-centres and posting of sufficient staff.
The party members also sought the holding of sporting disciplines in the district during the 2022 National Games which Meghalaya will be hosting.
